A perfect cool and overcast morning for a race but legs tired from half marathon training resulted in a just sub 40min 10k.
My slowest time for this race since 2008, primarily due to a lack of training (the story of 2013).
As a result of run training for the Irish Runner 5 mile the previous weekend, I had good runs but overall my lack of duathlon specific training showed.
Good arm pumping helped me up the hills but the lack of run training made for a slower time than last year.
I endured sore glutes early on to complete the cycle with a good average speed. The lightly overcast start was welcome and it only warmed up in the latter half of the day.
