Hook and actions are the means to expand WordPress. They are *everywhere* but they are *not* scary. I promise.
Last weekend (26/27 May 2018) I attended and spoke at WordCamp Belfast. Like the inaugural WordCamp Dublin last October it was educational and fun and everyone is so approachable.
My short talk was an introduction to actions and filters in WordPress. I aimed to demonstrate that they aren’t as complicated as people might think and that they are infinitely flexible. Also that, without them, WordPress would not have the massive plugin repository that it has.
The schedule described my talk as:
Hooks and filters are critical part of WordPress.
They are used by the core product and they are what theme and plugin developers use to provide the massive range of add-ons for WordPress.
They are easy to use and let you access the internals of WordPress.

You may also view or download the PDF directly (my presentations don’t have fancy animations).

The video will be on WordPress.tv in the near future.
