Sinead was another referral by Lorraine of Jigsaw Financial Solutions. In Sinead’s new business she scans old photos for people and puts them onto a DVD so they can be backed up on computers or shared with family and friends. She also makes slideshows from old photos or digital photos for birthdays and makes photo books for people who don’t have the time or know how to do it themselves.
When Sinead emailed me she was registering her business with the CRO so that she could register a .ie domain. She already had a professionally designed logo and the designer had delivered numerous variants e.g. jpeg and png versions (with and without transparent background), Facebook page background and business card layouts.
Sinead admitted having spent months looking at competitor web sites based in the USA and knew that she wanted to simplify the process. Those American companies had a vast array of services and this made their web sites overwhelming to new customers. Sinead’s content would keep it simple. She offers her phone number on the site to talk customers through the process and she offers a collection service for those based in South County Dublin.
While some photo scanning companies use an auto feed that could jam and destroy photos, Sinead scans photos by hand. Sinead also offers to create photo books using the scanned photos. Online tools to create photo books are often time consuming to use so this photo book service is perfect for those uncomfortable with those tools or do not have the time to figure them out.
Sinead wrote the content for the web site and I populated the site. I chose stock photos for the top of each page. Together we tried a few different ones before settling on those on the site.
After making the site live I created email accounts. I forwarded the email to her personal, ISP account but was unable to ‘Send As’ from that account. As a workaround when she receives a forwarded email she can log into the newlifeforoldphotos.ie email account and reply from there.
I customised the 404 File Not Found page to use a photograph with photos.
This project was completed in 2 weeks.
