My slowest time for this race since 2008, primarily due to a lack of training (the story of 2013).
32m24s (42nd; 1st 26:45, 1957 finishers. Splits: 6:19, 6:25, 6:18, 6:39, 6:41; Average: 6:28.

Wow, almost 90 seconds slower than last year! Like most of the races this year I did not get time to do sufficient training. In the month prior to this race I only did three 5 mile training runs, one each weekend.
We parked at the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre and walked to the kids area. I jogged down to the start line. There was a lot of people in fancy dress, even some of those that looked like they’d do it in a good time.
The first mile went reasonably well – I didn’t push it. My lack of fitness started to show and my average pace was 17 sec/mile slower than last year.
I did catch a guy on the final hill and commented that it was a tough one. I expected him to pick it up but he fell back so I easily got a good bit ahead of him.
My 32m24s time was reasonable considering that my fastest training time was almost a minute slower.
By the time I finished the boys had completed their mini races (even Gavin did one, with Caitriona’s encouragement). They did a bit of face painting before we headed home as it was cold.
