I convinced Ray to convert his partial WordPress site to a full WordPress site. We worked together to complete the site in a tight timeframe. The site is easy to maintain and extend.
Ray O’Neill, husband of the owner of Reform Dublin, contacted me in late November 2011. He was looking for a small bit of work on the existing web site.
The majority of the web site was static html with a small blog portion in WordPress that Ray had shoehorned into the site. The more I talked with Ray the more I was convinced that the entire site should be moved into WordPress. Conscious of his budget, Ray was initially reluctant but I sold him on the ease of updating the site in the future.
Ray provided me with an extensive document of the required changes.
One of the biggest challenges for this site was the menu. Ray required that the sub menus appear horizontally when the top level items are hovered over. This is called a “push-pull” menu. Most of the examples of this type of menu required a different layout of HTML that WordPress produces. I got lucky that I found an example that would work with WordPress.
Ray was very responsive to my questions; frequently and thoroughly reviewing my work throughout the project. We caught and corrected issues as they arose. He was also able to request changes to the layout as he experimented with the web site.
The project was completed on a tight timeframe with Christmas looming.
I am happy with the final site and its clear and easy to read layout.
