CastleknockCommunityCentre.ie

The Castleknock Community Centre website had not been changed in years and much of the information was out of date.

The menu was a number of Flash files and the layout table based. This bloated the download size unnecessarily.

I simplified the layout using YUI Grids and a CSS menu. The download size of the home page dropped from 110kb to 21kb.

The committee used the website revamp as part of their modernisation campaign to bring the community centre into the 21st century. The website brings openness and transparency in their dealings with all who use the community centre. The web site includes their Safety Statement, internal policies and procedures. The website also includes forms to book events and information about the facilities in the centre.

The committee launched the new site at their AGM in March 2009.

Kieran O'Neill, Public Relations Officer, Castleknock Community Centre

"The community centre had a website that was little more than a online poster, Damien completely re-vamped the website to make it informative and accessible. It offers the management committee an opportunity to communicate our policies and procedures to our customers and project a community centre that we can all be proud of."

"Damien was easy to work with, came up with some great ideas and was very patient with the changes requested."

"Our website was launched at our AGM where it got an enthusiastic response to the content, clarity of the web design and colour scheme. The hit rate exceeds our expectations."
