Food4Thought

Liz Moore, owner of Food4Thought, got my name from James McCormack of Good Mood Food.

Liz wanted to be able to update the catering menus on existing site. I suggested WordPress as it is easy to use, and easy to expand in the future.

Right away we hit a problem – Liz’s current hosting plan did not have PHP or MySQL, both of which are required by WordPress. The current hosting plan cost €139 per year!!

I recommended we move her site to Blacknight where even the cheapest hosting plan supports WordPress (for less than half the cost of the current plan!)

I converted Liz’s static html site to WordPress, using Blueprint CSS and a Blueprint WordPress theme as a starting point.

Her menu links all used images and I wanted to change this, to make the site more accessible and easier for search engines to index. I used cufón to maintain the script font.

During the project we removed some pages. To ensure that urls that were already in search engines or that people had bookmarked got updated, I put in 301 redirects for each one.
