A former coworker asked me to look at his friend’s website. It is an e-commerce site but all the products had disappeared from the catalogue!

When I got the passwords for the site and the database I found that the database was empty. I had hoped that it was just a problem with the website software but the database data was well and truely gone. Worse still was the fact that site backups was also gone.

I had told Cecilia and Leona, the business owners, that this could be the case so they were weren’t too devastated when I broke the news. Thankfully they had the product details in another format so they knuckled down and repopulated the site.

Since then I have made regular database backups. I also make changes to the site code and layout as required by Cecilia and Leona.
